Study 61:Art Resolutions-Carol’s Lilac

Art Resolutions is a self-imposed initiative to create an art study every day for a year.

There are bushes … Lilac bushes in the foreground of the photo I took to inspire the watercolor I’ve been working on. Not intrinsically interesting, I’ve ignored them–until today. Like many quiet human being, they don’t fight for acknowledgement or recognition. But like these quiet people, they possess precious attributes–also quiet. Closer scrutiny of the photo revealed several small, delicate patches of lilacs nestled among the forgettable cluster of branches and muddled bouquets of leaves.

Grandma Carol and I shared a great love of these old fashioned flowers and I worked on elevating the quiet bush this morning in her honor. The bush is not complete, but the secon pass of line made it more than a visual obstruction of the redbud. Grandma would like that.
