Creative Meditation #7: Interpretation

The Creative Meditation is a new project that has grown out of last year’s “Something Beautiful” initiative. It may happen every day or when the spirit moves me.

Interpretation may be the most flexible of all words. Influenced by the slightest suggestion. Perhaps a color of a favorite dress. The line in a tree branch. The repeated forms in an angry sky. Something someone said.

The photo below is a Brown County farm that inspired the drawing below.  The photo could  be and may be a painting in its own right but last week became an interpretation of line and form–a study suggesting a print technique.  Started as an exercise, I like the drawing for what it became and what it further inspires. Among other things it is a statement about simplicity, relationship, and focus.
