Something Beautiful is a self-imposed initiative to find a visual feast for each day of the year.
It’s done. 365 days — a year of consciously looking for a thing of beauty every day. I’ve been close to but not perfectly consecutive. Some days have been harder than others—and some have been flat out like pulling teeth. I have learned that staying focused day after day takes an inner strength the likes of which can seem completely foreign even within a few days of seeing it clearly.
A small endeavor, but one which has lifted me and unexpectedly over 300 strangers who cared enough to subscribe and had never read my blog before this year’s initiative. I have been genuinely touched by the insights, encouragement, and gratitude you have shared.
Over the year, I have thought of the relief when I had reached my goal—when I had completed 365 days. But now that it’s done, I am more inclined to feel that it is something I should never stop doing. That this daily ritual shines a light on, if not a dark place, often a grey place. I have other writing I’d like to do, but for now, I am not ready to stop challenging myself to that task of finding something beautiful each day.
Thank you for the days you have been with me on this journey. I wish you beauty and the light it brings.
