Day 342: Something Beautiful—The Modest Tree

Something Beautiful is a self-imposed initiative to find a visual feast for each day of the year.

‘Tis the season. This year my tree is modest. I had hurt my shoulder before going to pick it out last Sunday. If age has not tempered my enthusiasm, pain has. I loved the big trees of my past, but could not imagine dealing with the drama of a 10 footer tipping over to fill my entire dining room. Yes, this year my tree is modest. But like the one on this hillside, alone and lighted, it stands out before all else. And in it’s modest way, it is beautiful.
