Day 193: Something Beautiful—The Alaskan Range

Something Beautiful is a self-imposed initiative to find a visual feast for each day of a year.

Next week—an adventure that showed up by surprise. Directing a video shoot for a pilot fatigue awareness and training project. Alaska was not on my short list of places I must see before reaching my expiration date—but it is not without allure, especially when it is work that is taking me there.

Dad loved the west. I remember his great interest in the northernmost state. He and Mom took a cruise to see the glaciers and get a taste of one of the last great wildernesses. A land of striking proportions. I hope to find a few moments to paint and hope that reality lives up to the hype. The Alaska Range stretches from Canada’s Yukon border in the east to the base of the Aleutian Range in the west. Magnificent stature—magnifica statura.
