Day 189: Something Beautiful—Evening and the Giants

Something Beautiful is a self-imposed initiative to find a visual feast for each day of a year.

There is more of Monument Valley than one image. The desert and light are great painters. Angle of light. Filtering of clouds. Season. All play roles in the infinitely diverse desert personas. Deep rich, saturated color and dramatic values against the stark warm neutrals that grow hotter as the day progresses. The fullness of life — la pienezza della vita—in a barren landscape is truly beautiful.

I would suggest Page, AZ. its a couple of hours away, but its a central location to Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon NP, Lake Powell, and Antelope Canyon. Plus there is more that I didn’t mention.
