Something Beautiful is a self-imposed initiative to find a visual feast for each day of a year.
As this greets most of you on Thursday morning, I bid you beauty this warm spring Wednesday night whose sun held on until 8pm. Mothering the palest newborn green blush of the last two days. Each year I live to love another spring evening like this. The winter sleepers take to the streets. Life finds its way outside houses and into the world where people pass close enough once again to see that we are humans and offer us a greeting filled with genuine goodwill.
Five miles from my door is the small, historic town of Milford, Ohio. A place I where Norman Rockwell would have come and stayed to paint. Small, old, and stone. Ancient trees hover and a river moats its south edge. Twilight was descending as I passed through this evening. And, as if remembering the warmth of the spring day, golden lights moved inside to glow through windows tempting passerbys to steal a moment from what could only be magic happening within.
I had no camera with me, but the photo of Hallstatt, Austria I offer brings with it everything that Milford gave me tonight. Something warm. Something new. Something beautiful.
